St-Michel-Chef-Chef is a lovely family seaside resort.

This harbour is famous for its local food, especially for the “Galette St Michel”, which is a kind of dry round biscuit.

Every Wednesday morning, you can stroll along the market stalls in town to discover local products.

In St Michel, you’ll find quite a number of amazing wild coves. But, you will also be able to enjoy a large sandy beach, ideal with children. In July and August, you can learn swimming at the Mickey club.

If you like fishing on foot, at sea or in a pond, you will find plenty of spots in St Michel.

Enjoy all kinds of water sports during your holidays, and try catamaran, bodysurfing, kitesurfing, stand up paddling… You will undoubtedly find an activity that you’ll like!

Where does the strange name St-Michel-chef-chef come from?

In the past, Saint-Michel-chef-chef was named Saint-Michel-du-Chevecier.

From 1630 to 1673, the city was mainly called Chevechef. The names Chefchef, or chef-chef began to be heard later. In 1792 to fulfill the requirements of a decree from the Convention ordering communes to change their names if they recalled some memories of the royalty, feudality and superstition, the Council decided to keep only Chef-Chef.
